Pick up at your hotel in Jakarta and drive to Carita Beach, for about 3 hours. Have a light breakfast before boarding the speedboat heading to Krakatoa. Begin your ascent to Anak Krakatau, starting in a dense, healthy jungle before transitioning to volcanic ash slopes. After done, return to the boat and head to Rakata Island, home to the Legon Cabe coral reefs, also the home of 'big' Krakatoa. Enjoy excellent snorkeling opportunities, with stunning views of Anak Krakatoa's peak in the distance. After done, cruise back to Carita before transferring back to Jakarta.
Hiking and trekking in Anak Krakatau is considered easy. You will need to pass some dense vegetation after the beach, and then off to the ashy slopes. A pair of shoes with good grip (especially during the sand trek) will be helpful.
A comfortable clothing, good gripping shoes, swimsuit for snorkeling, and sunscreen and hats.
